ACADEMY Philosophy
WHAT WE PROVIDE
The WPL Academy provides players with supplemental opportunities to play at the highest level while still playing with their club team. We prepare players to thrive at the college level both on and off the field. Many of our Academy staff have played and coached at the college level and hold top credentials from US Soccer and United Soccer Coaches, among others.
THE WPL ACADEMY EXPERIENCE
It is our goal to give the players good competition, and the events we attend certainly deliver on that!
We want to provide competitive environments for the players to develop, be exposed to other coaching styles, potentially some positions and systems of play that they do not normally play in, and quality teams they would not normally see with their club teams.
THE BIG PICTURE
Remembering the “big picture” for the Academy and travel events is key. The big picture in the travel aspect is to get used to traveling with a team, dressing and behaving professionally, managing their sleep, nutrition, etc with help from the coaches and a roommate. As the players continue to grow they will get more exposure to this and be ready for that next level in college if that is their goal.
